Disappear Here International Film Festival
September 27 - September 29
Ballyliffin Village, Co Donegal
The Disappear Here International Film Festival returns to the village of Ballyliffin for its third year. This increasingly popular event 3-day event celebrates independent film-making from all corners of the country, and from around the world. It has developed into a thought-provoking and diverse showcase of all the industry has to offer. The festival features screenings, industry workshops and masterclasses, children’s films, and lively post-screening interviews and debates.
Highlights for 2019 include opening film ‘Never Grow Old’ at 8pm on Friday 27th September – a terrific old-fashioned western set during the 1849 Californian gold rush. Starring John Cusack and Emilie Hirsch, it tells the story of an Irish immigrant undertaker as he steers his family through the difficulties of the time.
On the documentary side, screenings include the multi award-winning ‘For Sama’, a first hand account of the war in Syria, and the powerful & beautifully shot GAZA, which gives the viewer a glimpse inside this fortified land and a chance to meet the the real people who inhabit it.
After the success of our environmental film programme with Donegal ChangeMakers last year, Disappear Here will again partner with this Irish Aid funded body. This year they will discuss Gender Equality, as part of their efforts to raise awareness of local and global development issues. Full programme details from www.disappearherefilmfest.com
